FLATSTOCK 25 - BY THE BAY
TRPS is pleased to announce the rockposter event of the summer. We're teaming
up with the American Poster Institute (API) to present Flatstock 25 - By the Bay on
Saturday July 10, 2010 at the Hall of Flowers in San Francisco's beautiful Golden
Gate Park. The show will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
I'm sure many of you are familiar with the Flatstock name. The Flatstock shows in
Austin, Seattle, Chicago, and Hamburg are known worldwide as premier events
in the poster world. The very first Flatstock was held in San Francisco back in the
nineties, and they've long wanted to come back out here for their landmark 25th
show. Joining forces with TRPS has been tossed around for some time, and the
pieces have all fallen into place.
TRPS' Rock Art By the Bay artists show has been a regular happening every
summer for some years now. Melded with the Flatstock event, this will be a very
special show. We're thrilled to be working with API to bring this landmark event
to San Francisco.
In keeping with Flatstock and Rock Art By the Bay tradition, this show will be
artists-only, and admission is FREE to the public. We're expecting an outstanding
lineup of artists for this one, and this is a great opportunity for us to introduce a
lot of new faces to the Bay Area poster community.
Mark down the date Saturday July 10, 2010 on your calendars. You won't want
to miss this one!
Artists Include: Chuck Sperry, Ron Donovan, Jon-Paul Bail (Political Gridlock), Dave Hunter, Jay Ryan, Geoff Peveto, Mig Kokinda, Stanley Mouse, David Singer, Carolyn Ferris, Randy Tuten, Mike Budai, John Seabury, Frank Kozik, John Van Hamersveld, Alan Forbes, Justin McNeal, Joanna Wecht, Dave Welker, Fred Hosman, Uncle Charlie Hardwick, Sean Carroll, Bob Masse, Summer Makovkin, John Howard, Gregg Gordon, Isaac Menge, Lee Conklin, Norman Orr, Lil Tuffy, Lindsey Kuhn, Jason Munn, Dirk Fowler, Scrojo, Burlesque of North America, Mike King, Dennis Loren, Mark Behrens, Farley Bookout, Gary Houston, Dan Black, Alan Hynes, David D'Andrea, Kevin Tong, Marq Spusta, Nels Jacobson, Chris Peterson, Two Rabbits Studio, Marty Boe, Pat Ryan, Chris Shaw, Alexandra Fischer, Paul Imagine, Dan Stiles, Ryan Kerrigan & Travis Bone

ALTON KELLEY BENEFIT POSTER
A growing part of the TRPS effort is to help poster artists and their families
in time of need. Thanks to the efforts of noted Fillmore poster artist Dave Hunter,
we are pleased to offer this beautiful 18 X 24 limited edition silkscreen print to
honor the memory of one of the greats, Alton Kelley.
All proceeds from the sale of this killer poster (every dime) will go directly to
Kelley's family through the TRPS Artist Relief Trust account.
Printed in black, metallic silver, and colorful split fountain, the central image
is a Harley-Davidson engine (Kelley loved his toys). The dripping psychedelic
lettering would do Kelley proud.
We unveiled this print at our Fort Mason show in San Francisco on June 14th,
and these are the remaining copies from the show. Each is signed by the artist and
numbered (out of a 100-copy print run).
Please support this very worthwhile effort. Remaining quantities are limited,
and when they're gone, that's it.
This limited edition silkscreen is available now for a donation of $80 plus $10
shipping. If you want to include a message to Kelley's family, we'll be happy to
forward it to Marguerite and the kids.
Please make out a money order or personal check made payable to "TRPS Artist Relief Trust" (memo "Kelley Poster") and send it to: The Rock Poster Society PO Box 20309 Oakland, Ca. 94620-0309 |

| The
Rock Poster Society is the planet's largest organized
group of rock poster collectors, artists, and dealers. TRPS (as
we are known and pronounced like "trips")is an eclectic, non-profit,
non-denominational, committed and focused volunteer group who have
as their common bond an overriding joy in the art of the rock poster,
be it Fillmore and Avalon, punk, boxing style, off-the-wall or just
plain bonafide out-there.
Although we are based in Northern California, we have members
ALL over the country and around the world. So kick off your
shoes, take a stroll around, score some cool information, see
what's coming up in the poster world, and most of all, communicate
with other kindred poster-collecting souls. We also do encourage
you to become a member of TRPS and enjoy the added benefits of
membership. |
OUR MISSION:
- To generate interest and public awareness
of poster art.
- To act as a hub of information and resources
that shall be available to all.
- To encourage the free exchange of critical
archival advice and counsel.
- To embrace and perpetuate the ongoing tales
and folk lore surrounding these vibrant works and to offer insight
into their historical backgrounds.
- To bring to the forefront, through public
events and exhibits, the many great artists who created these
works and to unite them with their fans.
- To explore the continuing tradition of rock
poster art from its origins to its most recent incarnations.
- To attempt to form a worldwide link with
others who share the same interests and passions.
- And finally, to create a sense of community
and fellowship among those who are drawn to the joy of collecting
so that we may all bask in the wealth of our obsession.
